Well, if you were anything like me when you started enjoying wine you probably were confused on where to start? There is always this persona that you need to snobby and have a ridiculous amount of made up descriptive adjectives to taste wine. Well maybe that wasn't the same for you but, that is how I felt when I started getting in to wine.
Luckily I worked in the restaurant industry so I had not only a lot of wine at my disposal (have to love the perks of the job!), but also a high amount of well educated wine people to come and show me the ropes. They showed me how to taste wine properly and give me hints on how to go about describing wine, and too be honest it was a long road before I got any good at it.
One thing I do suggest to anyone that is starting to get serious about wine or even if you are looking to just learn more about wine and what it takes to make it, then hands down the best book on the market is called The Wine Bible by Karen Mac Neil. This book is amazing it shows you everything about wine but the truly great thing about it is that she some how make the completely boring things about wine totally interesting!
So my recommendation is to peruse my site and learn about certain areas and then go to your local bookstore and pick The Wine Bible up. Then you will be well on your way to a good understanding of wine
